چکیده
Abstract Aim Breast conserving surgery (BCS), as an alternative to mastectomy, in appropriately selected patients with early-stage breast cancer is recommended. Cancer specimens from BCS can be reported involved or close margins; this finding might increase patients’ future risk of local and distant recurrence. Association Surgery advises re-excision if disease present at radial margins (<1mm). The (2014-2018) national rates for invasive DCIS were 13% 22% respectively. This audit reviewed our Unit 2021. Method All procedures performed ELHT 2021 retrospectively reviewed. Patients who underwent included audit. We examined the total number required further following BCS, secondary incomplete excision margin their subsequent pathological management surgery. had incidentally found invasive/ diagnostic excluded. Results 633 study period: 232 DCIS. Re-excision rate was 15.1% (31/205) 33.3% (9/27) Some (7.5%) more than one Among these patients, a few opted completion mastectomy. Conclusions comparable but higher standard explained by overall small aimed make changes practice re-audit.

However, these mice display an increase in astrocytes with the type II morphology in vitro compared to wild-type littermates. Cultures of FACSorted Math1-GFP+ granule ...
متن کاملVariability in reexcision following breast conservation surgery.
CONTEXT Health care reform calls for increasing physician accountability and transparency of outcomes. Partial mastectomy is the most commonly performed procedure for invasive breast cancer and often requires reexcision. Variability in reexcision might be reflective of the quality of care. OBJECTIVE To assess hospital and surgeon-specific variation in reexcision rates following partial mastec...
متن کاملReconstructive Breast Surgery following Mastectomy for Breast Cancer: A Review
Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer in women with almost 1.38 million new cases annually worldwide [1]. It accounts for 23% of all cancers and 14% of deaths from cancer [1] One in nine women in the UK will develop breast cancer, however, the mortality rate is declining and now the 5-year survival rate is on the rise [2]. Surgery remains the mainstay of treatment for breast cancer and t...

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to compare the surgical and pathological variables which impact rate of re-excision following breast conserving therapy (BCS) with or without concurrent additional margin excision (AM). Methods. The pathology database was queried for all patients with DCIS from January 2004 to September 2008. Pathologic assessment included volume of excision, subtype, size...
